Summer in Portland got me thinking about ice cream. And about the one thing that is costing you more revenue than almost anything else.

In this episode I am introducing you to one of my favorite tools: the Sprinkle Stack. I recorded this literally right after a coaching call because that is exactly the point. When the energy is moving, you move with it.

Here is what I see over and over with coaches, energy workers, and service providers. You have something genuinely extraordinary. A gift, a tool, a methodology you built through your own lived experience. And instead of sharing it, you decide it needs more. More credentials. More polish. More hot fudge. So you leave to go get it and by the time you come back, the ice cream has melted.

You already know how good it is. You tasted it. And your people are out there right now looking for exactly what you have. They do not need it to be fancier. They need you to hand it to them.

The gap between your idea and your execution is not a preparation problem. It is a worthiness problem. And that is exactly what we are getting into today.

What you will hear in this episode:

  • What the Sprinkle Stack is and why closing the gap between idea and execution is the fastest path to more revenue
  • Why you keep leaving to get hot fudge you do not actually need
  • A real coaching conversation from this morning that shows what it looks like to move on your idea before you feel ready
  • Why the fact that you built your methodology on your own is not a weakness, it is the whole point
  • Why the universe does not hand you the idea to share something if it is not ready to be shared

You are not waiting on more skills. You are waiting on permission. This episode is that permission.

Go sell the ice cream. 🦄

Hi, and welcome to Fuck Around and Get Paid, the podcast where fun, flow, and strategy meet to help you get paid for doing what you love. I'm your host, Jennifer Liss, and today we are going to talk about why you should sell the ice cream before it melts. Let's dive in. Hello there, friend. Welcome back to the podcast. This episode is for you. If you keep finding reasons why you're not ready yet, doesn't matter if you're a business owner who knows you have some gift, some tool, some idea, some offer, or if you are working a corporate job and you're like, I just keep feeling like I'm not ready for the next thing. Or maybe you do know that you're ready and you just can't get yourself to take action. Basically, anybody who doesn't feel ready enough or feels ready and you're not taking action, this one is for you. Here's what you're gonna get from this episode. You're gonna see how you're letting all of your best ideas melt. It's summer here in Portland, and I can't stop thinking about ice cream. It was 90 degrees yesterday, which is wild actually for this time of year, but I can't stop thinking, of course, about ice cream. We have this amazing ice cream place here that has a dairy-free bananas foster ice cream and a gluten-free waffle cone. Oh my goodness, it's dangerous. Let me tell you, if you ever come to Portland, I will take you to go get this ice cream if that sounds good to you. They also have many other delicious flavors that are dairy, but this bananas foster and a gluten-free cone, it's like heaven to somebody who is dairy-free and gluten-free. At any rate, by the end of this episode, you might also be craving ice cream. I cannot promise you that you won't want to go get a scoop. Because here's what I want you to imagine. For me, it's bananas foster. But what is the best scoop of ice cream you have ever had in your entire life? Remember, imagine if you're not an ice cream fan, you can imagine some other dessert. But for those of us who just love an ice cream cone in the summer, the best scoop of ice cream you have ever had in your life. Imagine that you have received it and it's so freaking good that just like me to you, I'm like, you've got to try this bananas foster. So you are like, this is so good. I want to share it with somebody. So you buy it and you have it, and you're so excited, you're gonna go run out and go share this with somebody. But then you stop and you think, you know what? This ice cream needs a little bit of hot fudge. It's not enough as it is. So you leave the ice cream and you go to go get some hot fudge. Go to the store, you come back, you have the hot fudge, and the ice cream is completely melted. You have nothing to give to your friend other than melted ice cream and a jar of hot fudge. This is what we do with our gifts constantly, especially women. We feel like this magical thing has come through us, but it needs more before it's ready. I need to learn another thing. I need to get another tool. I need to wait a little longer. I need to get a little bit more information, I need something else. Instead of trusting that the universe has delivered you, literally, my friend, the most magical, delicious ice cream on the planet. This idea has come to you through all of your gifts and all of your experiences and everything that you have been mixing up, just like in that, you're like that rotator of the that's making the ice cream. I don't know what that's called. I've never been an ice cream maker. That's been happening. You've been like bringing in all the ingredients, all of the cool things. And then this idea comes through cookies and cream. Here it is, cookies and cream. And then you've got the cookies and cream, and you're like, no, no, no, this cookies and cream, it needs fruity pebbles and it needs this and it needs that. And before you know it, you have wasted all this time, and the cookies and cream has gone sideways. We delay, we dress it up, we wait for something to be perfect. Meanwhile, the moment is dissolving, the ice cream is melting. And this is what happens. You already tasted it. You already know how good it is. You felt it, the idea came through you. It didn't need something else. You just needed to go deliver it to the person who is going to be so delighted from it. And this is happening in action. I'm actually delivering you using one of my tools that I teach to people, which is called the sprinkle stack, which is maybe kind of ironic because I'm talking about how you don't need toppings. And now we're we're switching to toppings for just a second, okay? Follow me here. The sprinkle stack is when you feel a moment, when you feel something coming through you, when you're so lit up, say you just got off of a brainstorm with a friend, or you just got out of a off of a coaching call that you're so lit up about something. You've got all of these ideas. What we will often do is like, I'm gonna let that marinate. Which sometimes, yes, marination can be a good thing. Nine times out of 10, I'm gonna let that marinate, is your nervous system saying, slow down? That idea is too good. And what I'm encouraging you to do is what all successful business owners do, the most successful entrepreneurs, the most revenue-producing entrepreneurs' success. It depends on what you see as success. But if you want revenue, you want money coming into your business, the tighter that you close the gap between idea and execution, the faster revenue comes. There's a direct link between that, between idea to execution, the business owners, the people. And this is also in corporate. Recognize, start looking at the people who move fast. There, they will make more money because there is value that is created in the energy of aliveness. When this energy is moving through you, you're so excited about it. You're all lit up. If you go do right then, which I'm doing today, because I was on a client, a coaching call today, and I was coaching somebody, and this came up. This idea of don't let the ice cream melt. Sell while the ice cream is still good. Put the idea out there. So this person raises her hand, and I'm going to share everything anonymously and change a little bit of the story so that we don't know who it is that said what they said. But this person came through and they had this weekend had a bit of a breakthrough. They'd been on vacation with some people and had moved through something difficult within themselves. Like, wow, and have we ever had that? We're like hanging out with friends and we pick up somebody else's energy. Like somebody's kind of being negative, or they share something that feels really heavy, and we realize that we've taken it on. That happens to all of us, right? So she had used one of her tools from her own practices, like something that she has developed to help her move through it. And she thought to herself, wow, wow, that really helped me. Oh my gosh, what if I share this with other people? What if this is something that I go and I share? And so she came to this coaching call with this idea of it. She said, I don't know. I feel like it's too soon. I just now had this idea. I just worked through this practice. And by the end of our session together, she was totally lit up and totally ready to go and totally excited about taking action on it because we I shared this idea with her of don't let the ice cream melt. We're always letting the ice cream melt. So, what I'm doing with you is sprinkle stack in real time, which is showing you go from idea thought. I got off of that call and I thought, oh my gosh, I need to go share this with my podcast community. I need to share this idea. I need to share this thought. I need everybody to hear this because we are hesitating too much. And waiting is expensive. The longer you wait, the more expensive it gets. Time is money. And I'm not saying that we need to go out there and throw out every single idea. I'm all about strategy. Like I have experience in strategy that there is definitely strategy, but especially when we're in those early stages of we're throwing out ideas, we've got to allow the energy to move through us and we start to recognize when I'm lit up. Like, what is that energy? What is that is the energy that we're learning how to trust? And we have not trusted that energy in our past. We have trusted hesitation, right? We have trusted the waiting game. We've trusted that, you know, if I just put it off, eventually I will do it. And there can be value, right? There can be value in the pause, there can be value in the waiting. But those of you who are listening who know that you've been uh looking for more hot fudge, you've been looking for some caramel to add to the top of that ice cream because you feel like what you have is not ready, is not enough. You don't have an enough experience, you don't have enough of this, have enough of that. You're gonna get the experience by offering that ice cream, my friend. You have the gifts, you have the tools, you have something, you have an idea, you have a concept. There is a 20-year-old who is out there making millions, millions in the coaching industry. There is somebody who is on Instagram, she is making millions simply because she had the gusto to just fucking do it. She was like, you know what? I've got sales skills, I learned something. I'm gonna go teach this to other people and I'm gonna teach them how to do it too. And people are now making bucku bucks too, because she has the the courage to go out there and sprinkle stack. She had the courage to sell the ice cream, tightening up that gap, just going and trying it, being okay with their the fact that there is gonna be people who are like, who the hell does she think she is? Well, who the hell are you to hesitate? Yeah, do you guys feel me? I want a taste of that delicious ice cream. And in this, I really want to point out that the ingredients, like you are the only one who has this specific recipe, every practice that exists, like yoga, tai chi, neuro reprogramming. I heard this one recently, hypnotherapy, uh, workout things like orange theory, boba tea, espresso, lattes, all of these things. Somebody decided to own that idea and be like, you know what? Orange Julius, this shake, this like we put ice cream in it, and we put this and we put that. Apparently, we have no orange Julius in Portland, Oregon. What in the world? Do you guys know what orange Julius is? Anyway, they're just these delicious shakes, but they are different than jumba juice. They taste different because it's their ingredients, it's their recipe, it's their way. And the same is true for you. You will teach it in a different way than anybody else teaches it. You will share it, you will package it, your idea is different because it's you, it's gonna taste different. So own the fact that you have received these ingredients, you've got your recipe, and it works for you. And so it might work for other people. You can't guarantee that, though. That was another thing on the coaching call today. We cannot make any guarantees ever for anybody's results and in sales. You do not have to. When you go to sell that ice cream, it's not like this is gonna be the most delicious ice cream you have ever had in your entire life. You can't say that because you don't know what their experience is going to be. But you can say this is baller, badass, delicious ice cream because you know that that is true. That is the best Bananas Foster ice cream I have ever had in my life. I can't say you're gonna love this because it's the I don't know if you like Bananas Foster, but what I can say is this is so effing good. Try it. Try it. It's so good. It just makes me so happy to even think about eating it. And the same is true for your gifts and what you offer. Like you are so lit up and so excited about what you have learned, about what you have to share, about what your experience is. Um, another example, I was doing a practice. I'm moving my arms right now for those of you on YouTube. I was doing a practice, this energetic practice that um came to me intuitively. I do a lot of movement sometimes and mantra for myself and my practice. And I thought, oh, I should record this and go share it with my community because I bet they would love it, or at least they'd be interested to see some of the practices that I do because I do breath work, but I also do other energy work and I have my own intuitive way of moving my body. And so I was like, oh, maybe I'll share this and see if people like it. Some people loved it. Other people who are in there probably haven't even tried it and haven't paid attention. But for the people it landed with, they were like, oh, wow, thank you so much. I'm I so appreciate that you did this. I was doing a practice the other day and I thought the same thing. Wow, I bet this might help people in my community. And so I'm gonna turn around later and I'm gonna record it for them. So where are you hesitating? Because if it helps you, if it's supporting you, if it's a tool and a skill that you have that you're like, wow, this really was helpful. Are you just sitting on that and letting that ice cream melt? Are you recognizing how good it is? It's delicious. I can just tell you, it's delicious to you, or you wouldn't be doing it. Yeah. So again, you don't have to claim the result for somebody else. You don't have to tell them you're gonna love it, because you don't know. We all fall into this, by the way, especially when we're trying something new and we're putting something out there, we will fall into the rut of saying, you're gonna love it, especially when it's something new. When we've done something a few times, our ego gets out of the way a little bit. So it's okay. It's okay if you accidentally say that. Everybody does it at some point, and we back ourselves out of it and we realize, oh, I don't have to claim any more for them, other than what I know about this. What I know through my experience, through my story, through my wisdom, this works. This works for me. Maybe it could work for you. If this is delicious, maybe you'll think it's delicious too. Yeah. So you have ice cream right now, and it's so good. You know it because you tasted it. So sell it as it is. You can add new flavors later. I think about there's uh this episode is all about ice cream, my friends. There's an ice cream place here called Salt and Straw. They started as a very small little place here in Portland, Oregon. A couple of ice creams, but they had this idea of putting weird flavors together. They've got like turmeric and black pepper raspberry. They have all these, I made that one up, but they have all kinds of strange ice creams, but they started with just a couple of strange ones and then they started building and they started building, and now they're in Disney, and now they just partnered with Taco Bell and they've all of a sudden been blowing up, but they didn't start partnering with Disney and Taco Bell and having all these flavors. They started with a couple, they started with an idea. What if we put weird flavors together? Would people like that? Would they be interested? Would they be intrigued? So, what is your idea? What is the thing that is rolling through you? You can stack, you can add the hot fudge later, but stack your sprinkles now. Idea to execution. Tighten up that window. Don't let your ice cream melt, my friend. And if you want some support, some brainstorming, some creative help in this process, come inside the expansion room.
